TAN TIPS

TANNING TIPS

The morning of your scheduled airbrush tanning session, take the time to shower, shave and exfoliate your skin so that you are starting with a fresh layer of skin.

Do not use moisturizers, lotions, perfumes, make-up or deoderant before your airbrush tan. Ideally you want to start with fresh, clean and dry skin.

Wear loose dark colored clothing after your airbrush tanning session.

Allow 8-12 hours for the solution to fully develop before taking a shower. During this time do not apply any product to your skin including make-up, moisturizers, perfume, etc.

Do not rub or touch skin. Doing so will stain hands.

When showering, use lukewarm water and keep them short, not to exceed 5 minutes. your first shower is simply to rinse off the cosmetic bronzers. Remember, the hotter and longer the shower or bath, the faster your tan will fade.

Avoid using any body washes. Body washes and soaps contain alpha hydroxy acid (especially Dove products).

This ingredient will make your tan fade faster and unevenly.

Begin moisturizing your skin after your first shower with body oils and alcohol free lotions.

We recommend at least 1-2 times daily.

Lightly exfoliate as you start to see your tan begin to fade.

This is to ensure that your tan will fade evenly and maintain a natural appearance while moisturizing and hydrating your skin.

If you have leather seats, keep a towel between the leather and your skin.

Stay away from activities that cause perspiration for at least 24 hours.

Remember, chlorine is a bleaching product. It will fade your tan.

FAQ'S

FAQ'S

How long does the airbrush tan process take?

The entire process takes approximately 15 minutes from entering the studio and walking out the door with a golden glow. Our solution is formulated for airbrush tanning only and dries instantly.

Can I choose my tanning level of color?

Absolutely! Your skin is evaluated to determine the color you wish to achieve. We custom formulate the airbrush solution for each individual to guarantee the most natural airbrush tan.

What do I wear?

It's a matter of your comfort level and what type of tan lines you would like. We do supply disposable thongs for our airbrush tanning clients. However, you are welcome to wear your own undergarments, swimsuit or nothing at all. Please be aware the bronzer will color your clothing but easily washes out.

What is DHA?

The airbrush solution contains Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) which is a carbohydrate derived from sugar based plants such as beets, sugar cane, etc. DHA is a natural substance and as it interacts with the amino acids on the outer layer of your skin it creates a brown color.

Is airbrush tanning a good choice for fair complexions?

Indeed it is! At Glow Galveston, we are capable of making our fairest skinned clients' airbrush tan look flawless. We know that you cannot use the same solution on fair skin as your would on darker complexions. Because of this, we have a specific solution that is formulated for fair skin. It has a very, natural appearance and will not turn your skin orange.

How does airbrush tanning work?

We have an airbrush artist on site to carefully evaluate your skin type and produce a solution formulated specifically for your skin. All airbrush tans are performed in a private airbrush studio and applied through a hand held airbrush gun that sprays a fine mist over your skin.

How long will an airbrush tan last?

Your skin naturally exfoliates every 7 to 10 days. Because the DHA solution reacts with the amino acids in that top layer of skin, the airbrush tan will last as long as you keep that skin from exfoiating.

Is there anything I can do to extend the life of my airbrush tan?

Of course there is! We highly recommend that you moisturize several times a day. This will lock in your airbrush tan and ensure that it fades evenly. But most of all, keep your showers short and the water temperature luke warm. At Glow Galveston, we offer many exclusive products that will extend your airbrush tan. One of our most sought after products is our anti-aging tan extender with bronzer. It is formulated with a special blend of DHA to ensure that your tan is extended for a longer period of time. This moisturizer contains Matrixyl which is a break through anti-aging formula. Matrixyl reduces fine lines and wrinkles and helps reduce the appearance of scars and stretch marks by rebuilding your damaged collagen.

Are there age limitations?

Anyone can receive an airbrush tan at Glow Galveston. Clients under the age of 16 must have a parent or legal guardian present the first time they are airbrushed in order to sign a release waiver.

What is the difference between an airbrush tan and a spray tan?

Night and day, that's all! With a spray tan, you stand inside a booth and a high volume of solution is blasted onto your skin. It's then up to you to make a quick attempt at the poses to make sure you get good coverage. After that, you need to clean it, rub it, and spread it in to avoid drips, streaks and runs. There is no color customization of the solution for your skin type, desired outcome level, etc. And if you miss a pose...well, you get the idea.

Airbrush tanning is completely the opposite. An airbrush artist applies a fine mist of solution, (chosen specifically for your skin type), evenly over your entire body. The artist can pay special attention to cover scars, cellulite, stretch marks or other alledged imperfections.

Airbrush Tanning is the most magical "topical antidepressant" you will ever experience!
